Building Your Own Site

It's becoming less and less feasible to run a business, even a brick-and-mortar, without an internet presence. Consumers go to the net for everything from product investigation to operating times. Having a simple site that's well-designed will give you the edge in the industry, and if you have products to deliver, the website will open up new markets and expand your business fairly cheap and easily. You can also use this opportunity to build brand awareness for your company, which is essential when trying to market your services or products.

There are many website builders that allow you to drag and drop the necessary elements needed to build your site. Sites like WordPress, Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, and others. These sites are options for creating websites with minimal coding skills.

To take it a bit further, website builder sites often offer pre-made templates where you only have to fill in the information with whatever you choose without having to create an actual page layout. These templates are usually free and easy to use.

So what's the catch?

Well typically with website builder platforms, you can build an amazing site for totally free, however, there are upgrade and subscription fees if you would like to take advantage of more features and to remove ads from the site. Also, if you own a particular URL, then you may have to pay an upgrade fee to display your personal URL over the site you just built. The other option is usually a site URL with the website builder platform's name in it. If this doesn't concern you, then you can absolutely build a site for totally free.

Another important thing to factor in is the ability to design a mobile version of your site. If you don't have a mobile version, then it may not be easy or accessible for everyone to use your site which can negatively impact your earning potential and site exposure.

Building a site doesn't have to be a difficult task. There are many ways to make a website look good on your own but it's important to ask others to navigate your site before an official launch. This way you can maximize the visitor's experience.
